FAQ about Bow-Emm Therapy
What is Bow-Emm Therapy? ✓
Bow-Emm Therapy is provided by Jill Clappison Dagless & Paul Dagless.
We use a combination of Ross Emmett’s Emmett Technique and Tom Bowen Therapy, to create a type bodywork that we individually tailored to your unique needs, providing a gentle effective therapy, that releases muscle groups to ease pain & discomfort.
Emmett Technique is a safe, simple muscle release therapy using light finger pressure, to address pain & discomfort, improve movement restrictions & restore balance & stability
Bowen Therapy is a gentle, non-invasive therapy we usually use to relax the whole body, releasing areas of tension & promoting the bodies natural healing abilities.
As Bow-Emm Therapy we use both therapies in any combination to achieve a positive difference for you during the session

Why BOW-EMM Therapy?
The essence of Bow-Emm is its simplicity & adaptability, often giving instant results
Your comfort is our priority, so we can use Bow-Emm whether you are standing, seated or lying down.
We apply Bow-Emm through your clothing, we’ve even worked through shoes when clients haven’t been able to remove them.
This means we can bring Bow-Emm to you at home or your place of work, as we are not limited to using a therapy couch; although for a fully relaxing session you may prefer to lay down
- to help easing pain & discomfort
- as part of managing more painful or longterm conditions
- to release stress & tension – promoting relaxation and improving movement
- improves physical stability & balance, many also tell us this makes them feel more ‘grounded’
Who is Bow-Emm for? ✓
Bow-Emm is for anyone who is experiencing pain & discomfort or restriction of movement. Bow-Emm is so gentle that we can use it on all ages from newborn to the elderly.
If you experience pain, whether from sports activities, work (either heavy or repetitive) or health issues, especially if you just put them down to ‘aging’ or ‘old injuries’ you may find Bow-Emm beneficial.
Using Emmett Technique is especially beneficial because the results are often improved with movement and work, so you can safely add Bow-Emm into a rigorous training or active work schedule.
Bow-Emm is also great as ‘first aid’ to help recover quickly from some of life’s mishaps or simply when you’ve ‘overdone it’ – ask us about learning some Emmett ‘first-aid’ releases on the EMM-Tech course
A whole body Bow-Emm session is usually a very relaxing experience. We also have Emmett sequences to help clear sinus congestion and encourage the lymphatic system, which are very quick and at the same time quite relaxing.

About a Bow-Emm session ✓
Bow-Emm is usually applied through light weight clothing or directly on skin, with the client be standing, seated or lying down on a therapy couch.
Most sessions are around 20-30 minutes, however sometimes only a few minutes is needed and occasionally over 30 minutes.
Bow-Emm is a very portable therapy and is useful where clients may be unable to get onto therapy couches, or prefer to be treated at home, because of mobility issues.
Another result of combining techniques seems to be fewer initial sessions for relief, sometimes only one or two, and longer between maintenance sessions, making Bow-Emm your ‘goto’ affordable therapy.
